As an established partner of tool and die making industry we have been providing orientation and overview in market and competition since 1995. The Fraunhofer Institute for Production Technology IPT and the Laboratory for Machine Tools and Production Engineering WZL at RWTH Aachen University, Germany, are combining their tool making expertise in the common business area aachener werkzeug- und formenbau (awf).
We mainly focus on services for the branch, however, we do not produce tools ourselves. The Fraunhofer Center for Manufacturing Innovation CMI in Boston constitutes an additional settlement in the USA. Approximately 60 scientists with experience and expertise work at our institutes in the field of tool and die making. The basis of our knowledge comprises the world’s largest benchmarking database for companies in the field of tool and die making.
